Stop Feeding Me Pork, I'm Full

Granted the VP of the U.S. has already stated that the "desired results" were not achieved to stimulate the economy and that no one could have predicted how bad the economy was, but come on, what is with all the pork?

Does anyone care about where the stimulus money is going? Another $650 million on top of the billions allocated for Digital Conversion Coupons. Oh, and don't forget education, which would get $66 billion more. That's more than the entire Education Department spent a mere 10 years ago. Some $6 billion of this will subsidize university building projects. If you think the intention here is to help kids learn, the House declares on page 257 that "No recipient . . . shall use such funds to provide financial assistance to students to attend private elementary or secondary schools." Now granted, I believe in the public school system. I chose to put my children there but do you think millions are going to help students get into college, no! Look, I am for small communities getting money to help the town but it doesn't make sense when the funds are going to causes that will not create jobs and receiving the money coming with strings attached so residents have to pay for it. You see, maybe the turtles really do need safe passage across the highway because it is a safety concern, but how many jobs was that going to create? Zero. Wasn't that the point of all of this? Now, Congress has to stimulate the stimulus! I am young enough to the point where this is affecting not only me but my children's future. We should not have to pay for pork, earmarks and pet projects in which we were told were going to be non-existent in the stimulus plan. See for yourself.
